Liam found a wooden music box on Gran's porch. He wanted to hear the soft tune inside. The lid looked heavy and stayed tight against the rim. He pulled once, but nothing moved at all. A small squirrel froze beside the step and watched. Curious, Liam pressed harder; the box only rocked slightly. Thin morning light filled the quiet porch. He slid a finger along the back edge. The wood there felt warm and almost hollow.

He tapped that spot; a dull echo reached his ear. The echo showed a hidden space under the lid. A loose metal connection linked the lid to one hinge. Liam pushed the corner, and the hinge lifted free. The lid flipped up; tiny glass balls rolled out. They clinked down the porch boards and surprised the squirrel. It jumped over them in a charming zigzag dash. The rolling balls struck a paint pot near the door. Blue drops spread across the floorboards, making star shapes. Blue, red, and green formed a bright relationship on the wood. He closed the lid and carried the box indoors.
