English 원문
Blue digits from the stove timer flickered against the chrome kettle. Zane leaned over the counter. He lifted a flat fridge magnet from a small red toolkit box. He nudged the magnet under the metal whisk resting on the cutting board. The board carried shallow grooves from a workshop where someone had shaped it last year. The whisk slid forward, its handle scraping soft lines through scattered salt. The moving handle bumped the hanging ladle, which swung and tapped the light colander above the sink. The colander shook, and a jar of peppercorns on its rim vibrated until several dark beads spilled onto the board. Each bead rolled along the salt trail, stopping only when the magnetic field lost strength beneath the wood. Steam from a cooling pot mingled with a faint citrus scent from the fresh soap near the sink. Zane watched the dynamic path and stepped aside to make room.
Dawn arrived with flour dust on her sleeves and joined without words. Their teamwork showed in the quick way their elbows avoided collision. She flipped the magnet, reversing polarity, and the whisk jerked backward, pushing a half-open bag of flour. A pale cloud rose, then settled on the peppercorns, making tiny white moons on black stones. Curious, they collaborated again. Zane added two small magnets like goals on opposite sides of the board. The peppercorns felt the alternating pull and spun in wide arcs. They finally clung together inside a rough circle of flour left by the earlier cloud. That ring met the resting salt line and formed a thicker ridge. Grains kept moving through it in slow waves. More magnets from the toolkit aligned along the pan’s steel rim, and stray spoons trembled against it. Flour still drifted above the board. A loose peppercorn bounced against the metal rim and kept rattling.
