The sun is strong today. Wren stands near a wooden fence. A thin knot makes one gap. She bends and looks through it. Inside, a green plant shakes softly. Wind moves the flat leaves. A low buzz comes and goes. Nothing blocks her view here. The smell of rain yesterday is clear. She steps to the next opening.

A wide board sits loose there. Bright light from the sun hits. The glare hides the garden scene. She lifts one palm for shade. The view returns in small pieces. A man and a boy talk softly. They stand beside tall tomato plants. Water drips from a silver can. Wren stays silent there. She walks to a small window. Dry vines frame this last space. A still pond reflects the sky. No people or birds move there. Soft shadows play on the water. The pond stayed still.
