Ring Inside the Tip Jar-

English 원문
A stainless spoon twirled inside an empty soup bowl, scraping a thin circle before crashing against a tin tip jar. The jar answered with a bright ring that cut through fork taps, stove hisses, and chair legs dragging nearby. Steam burst from the coffee machine behind Sam, blanketing the ring with a soft, rolling roar. Past the kitchen doorway, cooks shouted orders that bounced off tiled walls and returned as a rough echo. A striped cat traced the entrance waiting area, paws silent against worn boards while a small sneeze popped now and then. A tray of glasses had been arranged near the bar counter, and their rims tremored whenever the fridge compressor rumbled underfoot. Exposed beams overhead carried a rustic charm, yet the jar’s metallic echo kept returning, each ping sharper than the last.
He cleared the top layer of coins with a muted jingle and tried twisting the lid in one smooth pull. The glass shifted, yet the lid refused, answering his effort with a slow, stubborn thud that spread along the counter. He wiped both palms, gripped again, and the threads grumbled, but the seal held while forks rattled on nearby tables. A half-remembered phrase about trying to keep your chin up flashed through his head as his shoulders curved lower over the jar. The cat leapt onto a vacant stool to sniff a flaky whisker biscuit, and the stool screeched across the tiles. Sam wrapped a damp towel around the lid, braced both elbows, and twisted once more, drawing out a low, strained groan.
The lunchtime buzz swelled around him, yet he tipped the jar sideways instead, letting coins slide in a rolling chorus. Something lighter clinked among them and knocked twice against the curved glass before falling quiet. The cat stretched a paw, batting the jar again so it leaned farther, and a tiny bronze figure slipped into view. It was no coin but a curved seahorse, no bigger than Sam’s thumb, with ridges that rasped softly when he turned it. The earlier chime had been its tail striking the tip jar, not loose change dancing on metal. The cat curled up beside the empty soup bowl, purring in a rough rhythm that blended with the distant vent hum. Sam dropped the seahorse back among the coins, and a soft resonant ting hovered.
