English 원문
The ruler knocked against the wooden bench with a hollow tap, then slid into quiet again. Joy pressed a fresh sheet under her palm, each amber crease releasing a faint crack before she stepped to the launch hilltop. Glen, chalk dust clinging to his sleeves, finished the white circle below and walked toward the school wall. Joy aimed her new dart toward that circle, hoping the wings would stay level. The first throw hissed through honey-lit air, but the plane dipped left and landed among dew-dotted blades. She trudged down, fingers brushing cool grass, and began to ponder over the uneven fold at the nose. A gregarious cluster of sparrows fluttered around an elm trunk nearby while a sandy dog nosed the fallen plane, tail beating a muffled rhythm against the ground.
Joy gathered the plane and felt the paper’s resilience; the leading edge still held its shape. A sudden breeze rolled up the slope, lifting loose fur on the dog’s neck and flipping the flimsy craft from her hand. The dog seized it gently and trotted back uphill. If she had kept chasing perfect accuracy, the dog would have interrupted every careful launch. Joy knelt at the adjustment stone instead, clipped a small paper clip onto the nose, and bent each wing tip upward so the plane might glide longer rather than land precisely. She stood beside the ribbon marker; the wind had shifted again, now brushing warm across her cheek. Joy threw. The weighted plane sailed past the chalk ring, arcing toward the open grass. The dog sprinted after it, paws kicking rust-colored flecks from dry spots in the turf, then bounded back, foam drifting from his mouth like pale threads. Joy laughed once, took the soggy plane, and folded another from the stack. Behind her, twin lines of flattened grass traced every chase across the dew-dark lawn.
