English 원문
Floyd flicked his wrist, yet the hook came back bare, the bait already gone. He crouched under the willow, scanning glare-patched water for drifting scraps. Rosa sat along with her sketchbook and kept drawing. At the shore equipment area the container had been placed earlier; only three small bait pieces remained. He pressed one onto the hook until it clung like a bead on wire. The lure winked like a hidden gem when he lifted the rod. His first cast arced toward the willow-root water, but the line brushed a hanging twig and slowed. The float touched down; at once the rod tip trembled, then stopped. Weed below had gripped the hook again. Floyd tightened the reel, hoping the sinker would slide free. One hook had been bent slightly by the earlier snag, yet the tackle stayed intact, so he tried steady pressure instead of the quick jerk used before.
The slow pull released a buried stem; movement rippled upward and startled a nuthatch hunting along the willow trunk. The bird sprang into sunlight, wings brushing leaves that shook loose an acorn. The nut dropped with a neat plunk beside the float, sending rings across the dark-green mirror. Drawn by the splash, a school of fish darted, tugging the line toward the rope-wrapped mooring post. Floyd shifted his grip, angling the rod parallel to the planks so the tip skimmed shade instead of glare. Tension changed; the line slipped around the weed bed. Rosa offered a beaming smile and kept her pencil moving, tracking the dance. Beyond the drifting rings the opposite bank showed still quiet wilderness, yet the dock buzzed with tiny consequences. Floyd wedged the rod butt against warm wood, stopping further drift, while rings spread outward from the bobbing acorn, widening toward darker water beneath the dock.
