English 원문
Clay flecks had dried around Rafael’s wheel when he guided a thin wire under the new cup, aiming to lift it free. The motor kept a low hum, and water from the splash pan hissed against the spinning disc. A narrow groove had been carved into the metal by many earlier slices, and the wire slipped into this hidden track. The sudden catch pulled his fingers forward; the ceramic jar beside the wheel tipped, tools rattling like loose coins. One wooden rib struck the sponge stick, and that stick tumbled into the basin so that grey slip splashed upward, dripping back in a rhythm like a tiny creek. Sunbeams luminate the falling droplets, and for a moment the workstation echoed with clinks, splashes, and the soft throb of the motor, presenting a quick, noisy dilemma: yank harder or pause.
Rafael chose calm over force. He let the wheel keep turning, then raised a spray bottle and misted the wire; the water formed a slick ribbon that glimmered against the clay. A small snippet of the instructor’s distant counting exercise drifted past, but he stayed focused, sliding the wire again at a shallower angle. The same catch gripped, only lighter this time, yet the jar no longer teetered because his elbow blocked it. He tilted his wrists downward, and the cup eased loose while the wire twanged between his thumbs. To stop the earlier chain from restarting, he nudged a wooden board against the jar so it could roll no farther. The basin still quivered where the sponge had fallen, rings of cloudy water circling inward with a muffled swirl that kept moving toward the centre.
