Cold tile presses under Rosa's feet. She stands still near the sink. Sunlight rests on the smooth counter. A yellow pencil lies by a cup. Water drips from the silver tap. The pencil trembles, then slowly rolls. It reaches the corner and stops. A small mouse slips from the gap. Its whiskers twitch beside the bowl. Sugar grains stick to its nose. The grown-up calls, "Shoo, mouse!" The mouse drops the crumb fast. It darts back into the dark gap.

Steam rises in a thin line. A soap bubble glides across light. It passes a blue flower. The bubble taps a petal; it falls. Rosa watches the petal settle. Her mouth pulls down, sad. The bubble lands on the wet cloth. Colors swirl, then the bubble bursts. A tiny ring of color stays.
