Eamon stands still beside it.
The air is cool.
A cracked pot rests nearby.
Dry earth forms a small heap.
Old nail marks dent the wooden step.
Carpenter nails still sit inside.
Roof drips tap the puddle surface.
Ripples talk across the bright water.
A water strider skates in circles.
Inside the pot floats one seed.
It sways but stays closed.
Thin sunlight warms its hard shell.
The shell shows a pale line.
The line widens, almost opening.
Glare from water blocks Eamon sight.
He tilts his head lower.
The glare slips aside gently.
Eamon watches the seed again.
