Drip, drip, drip rings from the tap. Blythe stands by the bright counter. Steam lifts. A crowd of small cups waits nearby. Her sister Selwyn dries plates at the sink. The sisters greet with one quick wave. Blythe lifts a red party cup. Foam glints on its rim.

A wet ring circles the counter. The next blue cup slides from her fingers. It bumps the board and twirls. Blythe wipes the spot with cloth. The blue cup rests now. Sunlight gleams. She lines it beside the red cup. "All set," Selwyn says. Blythe lifts her hand in a fresh wave. A stray soap bubble lands and pops. Water hushes. A clear laugh hops from Blythe. She picks a green cup and places it straight.
