Hidden Animal Stickers Under the Wardrobe Shelf -

English 원문
Fine grey dust had gathered along the curling paper inside the wardrobe long before Eamon pressed his palm against the shelf. The paper felt brittle under his fingers, its raised pattern flaking like dry cornflakes, yet he smoothed it anyway and set a folded cotton shirt on the spot. Three more shirts followed, their fibres gripping lightly, but a slick nylon jacket slid across the stack and pushed the whole pile forward. The uneven surface tilted everything; the paper’s front edge lifted, brushing the back of his hand with a prickly burr. He tried bracing the shirts with his elbow while tapping the edge flat, yet the stack leaned again, its weight sliding toward the shadowed corner.
A soft thud sounded as Dana, crouched among half-opened boxes, read out, “Socks, belts, random things.” Her voice stopped when she spotted the leaning clothes. Eamon peeled the paper back; underneath lay a shallow dent where a missing felt pad should have raised the front of the shelf. Beside the dent, three faded animal stickers clung to the oak: a plover mid-stride, an ostrich with stumpy wings, and a rhinoceros edged in silver. The wood around them felt surprisingly smooth, almost polished by time, and the small scene looked both mysterious and bright against the otherwise obscure interior. If he had kept stacking on the crooked surface, the tower would have toppled again. The goal shifted: line the shelf properly and keep the old stickers in view.
Eamon fetched spare felt pads from a drawer while Dana unfolded a fresh strip of thick drawer liner. Together they pressed two pads under the front lip, the rubbery texture gripping the wood and lifting the shelf level. Dana held the new liner taut; Eamon slid his knuckles along its length, forcing out trapped air until the cloth lay flat and cool around the three weathered animals. He restacked the shirts, cotton on cotton, then set the nylon jacket on a separate shelf where the cedar block kept it from sliding. Eamon carried the stable shirts; Dana balanced the smooth cardboard tube, and the wardrobe doors closed with a clean wooden click.
