Clyde Tightens the Harbor Dinghy Cover -

English 원문
Sweet tar from warm pitch mixed with seaweed and filled the narrow dock lane.
Clyde walked along the planks and checked each mooring line, an action his hands knew by weight and rhythm. A gull hopped beside him; its head turned after every squeak of rope against wood. He stopped at his small sail dinghy. The cotton cover sagged where yesterday it had rested flat. Night air had drunk water, and the once-taut bungee cord now drooped like a tired spring. "Still holding?" he asked the gull. The bird gave a hard clack in reply.
He leaned over the gunwale and lifted the cord. The strand stretched without much fight, then snapped back with a soft rebound that shook faint drops onto his sleeve. Clyde remembered the intricate knot he had tied at sunset; its grip remained firm, yet water had softened the cord’s outer twist. He slid his fingers lower, found the drier section, and shifted the hook along the rail. The new angle brought cleaner tension, and the cover flexed smooth again. Close to his boot, a shallow dip between two spare fenders stayed absolutely dry, an oasis for sand blown from the beach path.
While he tested the last corner, the gull pecked a frayed hemp loop on the neighboring boat. Clyde laughed. "Leave me one job at a time." He added a short length of fresh elastic, gave it a pull, and watched the fabric bounce lightly before resting. A hopeful streak of green paint, laid by the harbor kids last month, flashed under the lifted edge. Clyde set the hook down, rubbed the faint water line off his wrist, and stepped back.
