When she finally dipped the brush, the blanket’s corner slipped back over the table, grazing the damp practice sheet and leaving a faint ridge along its edge. The paper curled where fleece met moisture, and the loaded hairs paused above the ripple. Any stroke across that rise would burst sideways, carefully drowning the serif she intended. She nudged the blanket again, yet fresh folds intertwined and tugged the sheet back as if echoing the small twitch in her ankle.
