English 원문
Two brushes rested on the soft cloth; only one carried a curl of dried gold at the tip.
"Who will use the other one?" Tatiana lifted the nearer brush and tested its balance above the shallow dish.
Across the open archway, a pale rectangle on the wall marked where shade once fell, and sunlight pooled on the floorboards.
A second stool stood close, its cushion uncreased, its legs wearing a ring of dust on the plank.
Kent had set out five fragments like river stones; their smoothed edges showed chalk-pale scars against an ultramarine glaze.
A fine bamboo brush waited with a gold-tinted bead near its tip, and a vial of spare pigment lay capped beside it.
Clamps with felted jaws lined the tray's edge, their metal a little tarnished where fingers had pressed them before.
Tatiana slid the empty stool back an inch and left it there, then drew the nearest shard into her lap-shaped hands.
Two edges met with a hesitant scrape, the wrong geometry rasping until she rotated them and felt a tiny click settle between her thumbs.
Her hands shuttled between fragment and clamp, checking the seam, then lifting the bamboo tip to lay a thin, patient line.
She pressed just enough that the join closed without overflow, and waited while the grip firmed from movable to fixed.
The room kept its small routine of measured sounds: brush lifted, clamp set down, a single chime turning once outside.
The third seam refused a clean seat, the curve insisting on a sliver of daylight when her fingers alone held the bowl's weight.
Kent stepped closer without a word; his palms steadied the rim while her thumbs nudged the edge into its written path.
"Here," he said, not moving the bowl, only lending weight that let the line close and the clamp take over.
As she reached for another clamp, her sleeve brushed the capped vial; a speck flared out and starred the glaze with ultramarine.
Tatiana paused mid-breath, then lifted a corner of cloth and tapped the fleck until it lightened to a faint blue whisper.
They turned the piece a fraction so the tint sat inside, and the gold seam advanced around the bowl like dawn crossing hills.
Where the glaze had worn thin, the veins mapped themselves crisply, and where chips had settled, the metal shone thicker by a hair.
The second stool waited untouched, a dust ring brightening beneath its feet as the light edged across the floorboards.
Five fragments now held each other, the gold lines tracing a private map that crossed the rim and bent toward the archway's glow.
Air smelled of wood polish and metallic sweetness, and the cat on the path paused, regarded the open door, and continued.
"It sits," Tatiana said softly, though her gaze stayed with the unused brush and the quiet place beside the tray.
Her thumb found the clamp's knurled wheel and held there, the turn waiting under skin and not yet begun.
