English 원문
Willa reached for the emerald piece, braced for an icy bite, and found warmth sliding under her palm like rounded sea glass.
Her grip loosened, fingers flattening as the smooth edge denied any snag, while zinc came beside it felt cooler than a coin.
A faint metallic tang touched her tongue, as if the table itself carried yesterday's tea inside a tin cup.
On the tracing paper, colours pooled in patches, overlapped shadows met like puddles, and a filament of rosin smoke climbed from Jasper's station.
She set the emerald against the H-shaped channel, pressed until a soft click answered, then added amber, rose, and indigo along the pencilled lines.
The organizer's nearest compartment held pale slivers like hard candy; she lifted three, tested angles, and let sunlight pour through each one by turns.
Where rose met cyan on the paper, their overlap brewed a mellow, almost bitter brown that touched her lips when she licked a grain of dust.
An indigo triangle settled with a dull tap instead of a click, and her wrist paused mid-press, the heel of her hand hovering.
She raised it toward the window; cloud passed, the glass turned jewel-opaque, and the table lost the sweet-sour play of light she had been chasing.
Sun returned a breath later, and on the paper the white glare seemed to decompose into emerald at one edge and cinnamon where two beams met.
She warmed a thumbful of putty between finger and palm until it yielded, chalky on the tongue when she wet a lip without thinking.
A small wooden wedge worked as her tool; she packed the seam, the channel's cool constraint holding depth while the edge slid home against the inner lip.
Click, this time, a firm one, the sound tasting faintly of metal as it crossed the table and touched the cup by her elbow.
Jasper glanced over without pausing his work and said, "Good sound," his voice easy and already turning back to solder.
Then an amber sliver she had parked to one side threw a soft band across the pattern and came to flank the oval's glow with honey.
Colours multiplied, edges crowded the lines, and her breath slowed; she hovered over another piece, fingers tightened, then retreated and let it rest on the cloth.
She lifted the amber sliver away, the one she had added last, and nested it back into the organizer's shallow compartment beside the spare brush.
The oval cleared, emerald and indigo held the space, and the table's taste returned to mild mineral, like clean rain cupped in a hand.
She set the wedge down, wiped putty crumbs from her thumb, and leaned back while Jasper's iron hissed somewhere beyond the frame she had filled.
Light kept working on its own schedule, and coloured patches slid across the tracing paper.
