Kit sits on the soft cushion. Kit keeps a careful hold. Knees press soft weave; old fluff rims wood. A warm wool smell drifts.

On the small side table, warm tea steams. A tiny swirl stirs the top. A click rises near the chair. Kit turns his head and looks back. Kit tilts toward the cup. The grandmother and Kit talk softly. "It is gentle," the grandmother says. Their family talk is soft. Steam thins. A small bubble pops. Then it is quiet.

A pale sun stripe slides on wood. It grows shorter near the edge. One button shows brown like earth. Light glows on it, then slips away.

Back at the cup, the steam is smaller. Only a faint wisp rises now. Above the cup, clear air shows. The warm ring on the wood darkens.
