English 원문
Three faint bands circled the brass rim, shallow concentric halos where countless fingers had steadied the heavy lens.
Daylight from the window struck the white tray, and warmth pressed into Flora's palm while the rim stayed cool.
Under the circle of focus, paper fibres surfaced like tiny threads, and nothing on the table looked truly smooth.
A pencil and a sketchbook lay beside the tray; the pencil's scratch waited, a dry whisper still in her ear.
Halle set an old coin on the paper, and it arrived with a soft tap that stopped almost before it began.
Its impression of a profile had thinned, high places dulled by years, low grooves holding tarnish the color of tea.
The brass arm clicked when Flora lowered the lens, and the hovering circle tightened until the portrait filled it.
A small loupe rested near the sketchbook like a spare moon, its rim nicked and its glass clean.
"I found this in a drawer," Halle said, her fingers retreating to the table's edge.
Flora eased the coin into the very center and lifted the pencil, then paused as a slow breeze lifted a page.
The page settled by itself, and she steadied her elbows, enclosing the tray so the broad light would not wander.
A faint blur ran across the portrait when she breathed, and she confined the view by lowering the lens half a centimeter.
Edges came back sharper than paper cuttings, yet the shaded cheek remained a mottled field that shifted with a thumb's nudge.
"Sharp now, or is it still swimming a little?" Halle asked, her voice low in the warm window air.
Her fingertip settled against the coin's edge for balance, and the circle snapped to clarity with a tiny click of the joint.
Across the stamped neck, another pattern swam into view, spirals crossing the metal like rivers that ignored the portrait's contour.
She lifted her hand and held it away, and the spirals held place, their concentric loops shining where oil caught the light.
The pencil stopped mid-stroke above the page; her shoulders quieted and the hovering eye of glass held both layers in its circle.
Halle leaned closer but kept her hands on the table's edge, and the room seemed to wait with the ticking of the wall clock.
Flora angled the tray a degree toward the window, lifted the lens a finger's width, and the portrait separated from the skin's fine map.
Lines from the mint ran north-south like rails, while the print's loops slid east-west, and the crossing made a tidy weave.
She traced only what stayed steady under the glass, then slowed and traced the other set when the wrist found a calmer angle.
"It looks like two songs," Halle said, very softly, and silence resumed after the sentence, light steady on the paper fibres.
The brass rim cooled her wrist as the clicking arm held its place, and the tiny weave shone within the hovering circle.

- contour

- impression
“On the paper, the coin’s impression had thinned; high ridges dulled, and shaded grooves kept a tea-colored tarnish.”
- loupe
“A spare loupe waited beside the sketchbook, its nicked rim circling glass that stayed bright as a tiny moon.”
- confine
“She confined the view with a half-centimeter drop, and the edges returned, steadier than paper cuttings.”
- concentric
“Under the hovering lens, the fingerprint’s concentric loops held still and flashed where oil caught the light.”
