A sweet paint smell drifts. The quiet classroom holds grey light. Rain taps the tall window. Darby stands near a smooth desk. A round mirror lies on it. A paper bird rests beside paint. An empty cup sits upside down. A shallow bowl waits nearby.

Darby lifts the little mirror. He slides it onto the desk. He places the cup on top. The cup wobbles and tilts. The paper bird almost falls. Darby steadies the cup quickly. He lowers the bird into the bowl. He sets the bowl on mirror. Now the reflection stays still. Kaya whispers, "Nice tower, Darby." Darby laughs and waves back. He walks through the open door.
