A bright afternoon spread gentle light across the wide shore.

Marisol arrived with a small tin bucket and a clear goal.

She has visited this coast many times, yet pink spiral shells remained rare.

She began a slow stroll along flat sand, scanning every ripple.

A gull cried overhead, and the air carried the sharp scent of brine.

When her boot pressed near a shallow pool, the ground sagged like quicksand.

Water swallowed her footprint and tugged at the leather edge.

Two forces now challenged her search: sinking sand below and rising water ahead.

Marisol stepped back, but the bucket already felt augmented by wet sand inside.

She emptied it, then crossed a ridge that was revealed by retreating water.

Between two stones glimmered an unexpected cluster of pink spirals.

The rising tide that had threatened her search moments earlier had pushed them there.

She brushed off brine and lowered the treasure into the dry bucket.

Afterward, she headed toward the dunes where tall grass moved gently.

Water covered the flats behind her, yet the bucket swung lightly at her side.

Her boots left crisp prints on higher sand, and the shoreline settled again.

She paused beside a sun-bleached log, watching foam sparkle under late light.
