Leah at the Glass House-

Story Content
English Original
Leah reached the city greenhouse just after the doors opened. She has visited the glass maze many times, yet today she carried a single goal: capture a photograph of the night-blooming lily that would close at noon. Warm air pressed against the panes, and condensation blurred her lens each time she paused. A crowd gathered near the central pond, blocking the view of the flower that blooms once a year. While backs shifted, she spotted a narrow ladder that had been left against a palm trunk. It rested beside a stone bench where a pocket of solitude settled in filtered light. Leah wiped the fog away, climbed two steps, and lifted her camera gently toward the blossom.
From the higher angle the deeply violet heart of the lily opened wider, showing a stripe of soft darkness behind its petals. She adjusted focus, but a shout about closing time rippled through the hall; only ten minutes remained. The lenses misted again. Leah changed plan, shielding the glass with her sleeve instead of the cloth now damp on her pocket. The surprise arrived when the crowd drifted aside: a tiny brown bat, folded inside the bloom, remained in silent slumber. Its presence turned her single picture into something rare. The shutter clicked twice before the bat stretched and fluttered away. Light stayed steady on the empty flower while her camera lowered against her chest.
Translation
