The Stubborn Jar- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Mia entered her uncle's villa after school. She wanted bread with sweet honey. The round jar waited on the wide stone counter. His old cat watched from a sunny shelf. She tried to twist open the metal lid at once. It refused and slipped from her hands toward a painted bowl. The bowl tipped, tapped a loose brick, and clicked loudly.

A narrow panel moved aside and showed a small floor vault. Window light entered and lit a strange iron design. Curious, Mia knelt and slid the lid along the groove. Inside, old coins glittered beside a tiny wooden whistle. She noticed honey waiting on the counter. She lifted the jar, pressed the whistle edge under the lid. The lid turned easily, and sweet smell filled the kitchen. She set the jar on the table.
