Squirrel at the Tipped Backpack -

Story Content
English Original
Bright light spilled between park trees. A striped squirrel hugged a fat chestnut under its chin. The trunk of an old oak waited across open grass, and the animal dashed toward it. A backpack, left beside a bench, blocked the straight line. One side pocket gaped. A ribbon that hung from the zipper has been swaying since sunrise, brushing the ground with each gust. The squirrel paused, ears rotating, whiskers twitching. Wind slid under the ribbon, and it slapped against the fabric. The sudden sound sent the chestnut rolling against the backpack’s wide canvas wall.
The squirrel pressed forepaws against the bag. The chestnut lay just beyond reach, hidden by shadow. Another gust tipped the backpack, and something shiny toppled out: a small plastic whale, still wet from morning dew. The toy bounced once, landed beside the chestnut, and formed a tiny ramp. The backpack’s weight shifted back, trapping nothing now. The squirrel scrambled up the curved side of the whale, nose touching cool plastic. The chestnut slid down the makeshift slope and stopped on open grass. Tail flicking, the animal grabbed its prize and sprinted toward the tree.
Up the trunk it climbed, claws digging into rough bark. Young leaves, proof of spring renewal, trembled overhead. Buds opened along thin twigs, showing new beginnings in every direction. High inside the hollow, the chestnut joined other treasures. Outside, the backpack rested quietly, ribbon hanging still.
Translation
