The market street is bright. Maeve walks with her family. Her mother walks beside her. A small bud hangs low. Its green tip slowly opens. Pink petals partly show inside. Next to the bud, fruit piles sit tall. Some pears are half green. One banana shows faint yellow. Maeve steps toward a book stall. A nice smell comes forward. A tall crate blocks her view. She leans left and looks.

She continues along the row. The crate stays behind her. Another stall shows rising dough. The round top lifts slowly. Steam stays under thin cloth. Maeve passes the bud again. The petals open a little wider. Soft pink edges catch light. Maeve stops near her mother. Her family stands around baskets. They watch the dough puff higher. A pear suddenly rolls toward Maeve. It stops close to her shoe. She lets the pear stay there. The pear stays beside the stone.
