Flying Bread Crumbs- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

A young squirrel stopped near a busy bakery door. A round sweet bun lay on the warm stone step. The bun was a forgotten treat from the early batch. Inside, workers bake more loaves, moving fast between trays. Grey smoke from traffic added light pollution to the morning air. Morning light began to lighten the bricks around the step. The bakery oven opened, and hot breath rushed across the step. Heat made the bun shine and stick to the stone. The squirrel touched the crust, then pulled back quickly.

The door shut again, and a cool wind slipped along the ground. The bun now felt firm, yet the squirrel could not move it. The oven opened once more, sending fresh warmth over the food. Soft dough loosened, and the squirrel bit a thin edge free. The door closed, air cooled, and the torn piece grew firm again. With lighter food, the squirrel dragged it below a leafy bush. Small crumbs scattered across the soil as it hurried away. A loose leaf rattled against the metal fence behind him.

門再次關上，涼風沿著地面滑過。麵包此時變硬，但松鼠還搬不動它。烤爐又一次打開，新鮮暖氣撲向食物。鬆軟的麵糰鬆開，松鼠咬下一小片邊角。門闔上，空氣轉涼，被撕下的那片再次變硬。食物變輕後，松鼠把它拖到長滿葉子的灌木下。小麵包屑撒落在泥土上，松鼠迅速離開。後方的鐵欄杆上，一片鬆動的樹葉發出沙沙聲。
