Instead, he crouched, pulled his sleeve over his wrist, and threaded the loose end through the sudden shaft of brightness. The rope slid along the ice sheen, then slipped clear without a sound. Felix felt the slack and lifted a hand in wordless thanks before turning back to coil the line.
