A white feather drifts down.
Clyde walks beside the fence.
Warm sunlight rests on wood.
The grown-up steps with him.
They pass a low stone trough.
Water glitters inside the trough.
They pass a wide flat stone.
Dust puffs when a chicken jumps.
A small mud puddle blocks Clyde.
Clyde jumps over the puddle.
They reach the open gate.
They turn and walk back.
At the flat stone Clyde pauses.
Thin snail trails write silver loops.
Loops shine beside his boot.
Near the trough a bucket clinks.
Tiny numbers mark the bucket.
The grown-up reads the numbers.
His finger begins to draw circles.
Clyde watches the dust pattern.
A duckling waddles into view.
