Water from a duck splashes.
The wet wood swells slowly.
Numbers blur under cool water.

Thin shavings curl beside lead.
Blue drops from a painter dry.
Small flakes float beside water.
Dry air lightens each droplet.
The ruler now bends slightly.
Its edge lifts from stone.
