A wet paint line shines on paper.
"Is it dry now?"
I kneel on the carpet square.
I watch.
Time dries the shiny stroke.
The light is grey.
Near the window, a paper corner lifts.
Moisture in the room curls it.
I raise my chin and peer.
A thin glint flickers on a wheel axle.
Metal shows under the desk.
I look back at the paint.
The wet edge looks softer now.
Paper curls.
The corner blocks part of it.
I step left, by the tin.
"It dries slowly," the teacher says.
On the board, a chalk line widens.
Eraser dust settles in slow air.
I stand still and listen.
Rain taps the glass.
