Story Content
English Original
A damp earth smell rises by the flower bed.
Lucia kneels at the edge.
Her palms press a warm stone.
Fine yellow pollen dots a half-open bud.
A pale smear already lines one petal.
"Good morning, Lucia," the grandmother says.
She knits on the wooden bench.
It is morning.
Lucia starts her routine garden walk.
She walks past the flower bed.
A tiny pollen puff lifts.
Dew drops spill off a leaf.
Twigs creak.
An ant crosses a stone joint.
A small puddle blocks one stone.
Lucia steps on the green grass.
Grass is wet.
She goes around to the gate.
She stands by the closed gate.
Light under the gap is thin.
She looks at muddy prints there.
Lucia returns the same way.
By the gate, one older print dries pale.
By the bed, a thin yellow dust line sits on the stone.
Her nose tickles. Achoo!
She slows at the flower bed edge.
By the flower bed, the damp earth smell stays, and a soft pollen puff settles.
Translation
Lucia
Lucia
Lucia
Lucia
