English 原文
Mira walked into the old observatory at midday, shoes clicking over marble that carried every sound toward the vast copper dome above. A bronze disc the size of her palm lay at the hall’s center, polished by countless soles. Curators claimed that a whisper spoken above the disc could race along the curve and return to the speaker alone. Mira paused at its edge, lifted her recorder, and waited. Scraps of dialogue drifted from tour groups near the walls; their vowels tangled in the air, blurring the effect she wanted. She stepped back as a child’s laugh bounced off steel rails, turned, and swung her bag to her opposite shoulder.
She tried again. A breath left her lips, yet the expected echo scattered when a camera shutter snapped close by. Mira adjusted the recorder level, knelt, and touched the disc; its surface felt unexpectedly warm, as though the sun managed to emanate through layers of stone. Behind a column, a lone meditator sat cross-legged, eyes half closed, palms upright. A deep hum rolled from his throat, steady and low, blending with ventilation fans. The dome responded by thinning his note until it resembled wind slipping through reeds.
Mira narrowed her stance, leaned over the disc, and whispered a single tone. This time the hum met her voice mid-arc. Two vibrations braided overhead, collided, and then a third, brighter strand poured back down. The collision produced a momentary sonic bloom—thin, round, flawless, like a miniature singularity where separate sounds folded into one. Tourists near the entrance halted; even their footsteps stilled, surprised by the shimmering chord raining above them. The meditator’s eyelids lifted; his hum faltered, and the braid unraveled into brief metallic rain.
A second of silence followed. Then ordinary noises reclaimed the hall: heels on marble, bags brushing coats, guides describing instruments. Mira exhaled, replayed the clip, and nodded once before slipping the recorder away. She stepped off the bronze disc; another visitor immediately replaced her, hopeful expression hidden behind a phone. Above the crowd, the glass panels glowed and the dome carried a fading echo.
