English 原文
Julian stepped into the city conservatory just after dawn, chasing one clear goal: capture the first photograph of a new crystal sculpture before visitors filled the walkways. The invitation had been written by a quiet curator, and the doors had been unlatched by the night guard minutes earlier. Sunlight slipped through angled panes, then began to refract inside the countless facets of the artwork, breaking into a moving spectrum that skimmed the tiled floor. An enormous ornamental pool sat nearby; its surface mirrored the shifting colors like sheets of fluid marble. Julian lifted his camera, yet noticed the battery icon flashing red.
He swapped batteries, but the fresh one refused to wake the device. If it had charged overnight, he would have clicked at once. Instead, he hurried toward a maintenance shelf where spare power packs were sometimes stored, only to find a bulky lobster sculpture blocking the narrow aisle. Its varnished claws caught iridescent rays, scattering spots of green and violet across his path. Julian ducked, squeezed past, and grabbed a pack. When the camera powered on, a fine mist from hidden sprinklers clouded the lens. He wiped the glass, tested another angle, and crouched low, yet droplets kept smearing each frame.
A single rose petal drifted from an overhead planter and landed on the puddle beside his shoe. The small ripple bent the colored bands floating on the water, forming a sudden clear window toward the sculpture. Julian realized the puddle could act as a natural filter. He set the camera just above the surface, waited until the next sweep of color crossed the reflection, and pressed the shutter. The shot locked every hue in place while the conservatory’s quiet returned; the tripod stood steady, and multicolored light rested across the polished tiles.
