English 原文
The afternoon eclipse crept over the garden, and Milo waited behind the shed with three sketchboards. He had always dreamed of tracing the moment when sunlight thinned and the trembling penumbra touched every wall. A projector had been assembled from cardboard and foil; its narrow hole promised a neat circle on the paper below. Beside him, a kettle released a grateful puff, and the wholesome smell of baked apples slipped through the fence. When the first crescent surfaced, his pencil hovered, ready to race the moving light.
A gust rocked the tripod, smearing the outline. Milo steadied it, only to watch clouds slide across the sky. If the cover had cleared sooner, the street would have fallen into sharp light, and the drawing might have finished at once. Instead, he pushed forward, taping the paper tighter, shortening the gap between lens and board, and counting aloud to keep pace. The clouds lingered, and another shape bled across the sketch. A breeze flipped the top sheet, forcing him to grab the board before it skated away.
While rescuing the page, he happened to look back at the shed wall. Dozens of pin-sized gaps between the planks projected tiny eclipses in a scattered pattern nobody had noticed. Milo rested the smudged board under the shower of circles and traced new outlines directly from the wood. The pattern grew lively, stronger than any single image from the cardboard lens. By the time the sky brightened, his page held a field of linked crescents, each one clear and clean. Tape curled on the edge, pencil crumbs dotted the ground, and pale silver light rested over the quiet grass.
