Morning Above the Wetland Stage-

English 原文
Morning clouds drifted over the temporary boardwalk that linked the parking lot to the wetland stage. Marco jogged along the planks, breath visible in the cool air, trying to catch up with the other volunteers. The community had built a small platform for a summer play, and the stage rigging waited like a quiet skeleton. A bright canvas backdrop, still rolled, lay near the wings; it had been painted by local children last month.
Marco swung the heavy roll onto his shoulder, but a loose plank tilted suddenly and forced him to steady his stance. Water from the night tide shimmered beneath the gaps, and an enduring smell of salt rose through the slats. He climbed the ladder; however, the first rope jammed inside a pulley, refusing to lift the fabric even a single inch. If he had noticed the loose knot earlier, the delay would have been shorter, yet hurried footsteps had distracted him. He unthreaded the stubborn cord, tied a firmer bowline, and tried again; the canvas crawled upward only halfway. A second rope squeaked, then slipped, sprinkling drops onto his wrist; he looped it around a thicker cleat for traction.
A sudden clap of wings burst overhead as a flock of storks lifted from the reeds, shaking the still morning air. The vibration rattled the rigging; the jammed pulley jerked free, and the backdrop slid the final distance with surprising ease. Marco braced the pole with both boots, tightened each knot, and checked every crucial detail of the weave twice. Meanwhile, sunbeams slipped through thinning clouds, turning the wetland water into bronze ripples beside the stage. He stepped back, eyes tracing the painted skyline, noticing how the real horizon now blended almost exactly with the canvas. Boards stopped creaking, ropes hung still, and the painted fabric rested quietly above the boards.
