Milo tiptoed across the farm yard at dawn, clutching his small camera. He wanted one clear picture of Breeze. The young horse lived in the wooden stable near the pond. The morning air pricked his cheeks, and the low temperature left every fence rail shining with thin frost. A pale mist drifted over the grass, and vapor rose from the water trough, hiding the doorway. Milo has prepared his camera since dawn, but swirling gray sheets kept swallowing his focus. The gate was pushed open with a quiet creak. Inside, Breeze snorted, restless because of an unseen visitor that rustled hay.

Milo stepped inside, raised the lens, and waited. Suddenly the mist thinned, revealing a tiny feathered creature perched on Breeze’s mane. The owl blinked once, then settled like a silent cap. Breeze, clearly surprised, froze instead of stamping his hooves. Realizing the chance, Milo quickly changed his strategy. Instead of moving closer, he lowered himself beside a stack of straw which offered steadier footing. The owl’s stillness kept the horse remarkably calm. The stable light grew brighter as the rising sun cut through remaining vapor. A single click escaped the camera, and the picture captured horse, owl, and shining air together. Breeze swung his tail, hay rustled again, and the scene stayed quiet.
