The wide lawn served as a tiny paradise for kite flyers, jugglers, and a bright plastic cheetah that zipped along on remote-control wheels. Lighthearted chatter floated over the grass; an abundance of bubbles drifted above several children who tried to catch them. Marisol’s goal stayed simpler: she wanted one perfect bubble to settle on the fountain’s stone rim so Theo could capture its shifting colors. She dipped a glass wand, drew a circle through the air, and watched a fragile sphere rise. A sudden gust rolled it sideways, and it burst against a branch before the shutter clicked. She wiped stray drops from her wrist as squirrels frolicked between exposed roots, shaking loose more twigs that scattered across her path.

Theo adjusted the lens hood and lifted the camera once more. Marisol twirled the wand lower this time, coaxing a bubble to hover just above the ground. The remote-controlled cheetah veered toward them, its wheels rattling against the stones. Startled, Marisol shifted her foot; the new bubble bounced off her sneaker, slid through the air, and landed—astonishingly—on the toy’s curved back. The vehicle continued rolling, carrying the shimmering globe like a crown. Theo snapped rapid frames while nearby children paused, mouths open, their cardboard planes forgotten. At the edge of the fountain, the cheetah bumped a mossy step and stopped. The bubble eased forward, settled on the cool stone rim at last, and held long enough for a final click. Foam from the nearest jet brushed the surface, and the bubble blinked out, leaving only faint circles on damp granite. Water droplets hung in the warm glow beside the still toy.
