Saturday arrived with clear sky and soft wind. Leo carried a bright bucket to the wide beach. He planned to build a strong sand ship before lunch. A tiny plastic sailor waited in his pocket. Warm sunlight covered the quiet sand. Sea foam lightly touched his bare toes. Leo filled the bucket, turned it, and tapped gently. The sand ship stood tall beside his feet. Leo placed the plastic sailor on the highest tower.

A sudden pelican landed nearby and flapped its large wings. The strong breeze from those wings shook the sand ship. The highest tower cracked, and the plastic sailor slid down. It bumped the bucket, which rolled toward the breaking waves. The bucket struck Leo’s ankle and tipped salty water everywhere. Leo jumped back, then grabbed the bucket before water escaped.
