The Baboon and the Missing Compass-

English 原文
Zoe followed the narrow trail that cut through a quiet forest. Morning air smelled of wet bark, and thin beams of light slipped between high branches. A vibrant carpet of moss softened each step. She had carried a small compass that had guided weekend walks since spring, and she hoped to reach an old birdhouse she had built near a shallow stream. Many seasons had passed; paint on the box had been peeled away by rain, and new vines had wrapped around the post. Fallen branches now lay across the path, and slick mud pressed against her boots, so her progress slowed and her balance shifted with every careful step.
Halfway to the stream, a sudden rustle revealed a baboon beside a fallen log. The animal picked up the compass that dangled from her belt clip and turned it in the sun, as if testing its shine. Zoe froze; the branch under her palm trembled. Instead of stepping closer, she crouched and set her red scarf on the ground. The bright cloth distracted the baboon, which dropped the compass onto a patch of leaves and studied the new object. Zoe slid forward, retrieved the compass, and circled the log. A clearing opened ahead, showing rich biodiversity: ferns, orchids, and darting dragonflies filled the damp air. She reached the birdhouse, tied fresh ribbon around the post, and the ribbon fluttered above still water.
