What Hid in the Pot?- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Morning light filled the small shop.

Bella worked as an assistant in a plant shop. Her goal today was simple. She wanted to lift a heavy flower pot onto the top shelf. The pot held soil and many tiny sprouts. She placed a short wooden stool beside the shelf. She climbed up and pushed the pot upward. The stool shook on the smooth floor. One leg caught the corner of a loose board. The board slid and knocked three empty tins.

The tins rolled toward a bright window and stopped. A soft rustle came from inside the flower pot. A tiny green gecko popped out between the sprouts. Bella gasped and almost dropped the pot. The pot tipped, spilling a line of dry soil. She shifted her arms and lowered the pot quickly. Soil spread across the shelf and fell in fine streams. The gecko leaped onto the window board and stayed. A smaller gecko followed. A family of reptiles hid behind the pots. Bella wiped the soil and moved the pot onto a lower table. She looked at the shelf and then stepped onward to the counter. A thin trail of soil stayed under the stool.

晨光灑進小小的店裡。

貝拉在植物店當助理。今天她的目標很簡單，她想把一個沉重的花盆放到最上層的架子。花盆裡是土壤，還有許多小嫩芽。她把一張矮木凳放在架子旁邊，爬上去推起花盆。凳子在光滑的地板上晃動，一條凳腳勾到鬆動的木板角落。木板滑動，把三個空罐子撞倒。

罐子一路滾到明亮的窗邊停下。花盆裡傳出輕輕的沙沙聲，一隻小綠壁虎從嫩芽間跳出來。貝拉倒吸一口氣，差點掉下花盆。花盆傾斜，乾土沿著邊緣灑成一條線。她調整手臂，立刻把花盆放到較低的桌子。土壤鋪滿架子，像細沙一樣流下。壁虎跳到窗台上停住，另一隻更小的壁虎跟上，原來這裡住著一個小小的壁虎家族。貝拉擦去土壤，把花盆移到下層桌面。她看了看架子，然後朝櫃台走去，矮凳下留著一條細細的土痕。
