The Soil Wave- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

A young rabbit squeezed through a loose board in the fence. Garden scent drifted to its twitching nose over soft earth. Morning temperature stayed cool, and dew shone on every leaf. A thin cloud crossed the sun yet gentle light touched the stems. Nature filled the air with soft rustles from hidden beetles. The animal aimed for a ripe leaf near a blue bucket. It bumped the bucket with one quick hop. Metal scraped, and the bucket tipped toward a wooden crate. A small ball inside the crate rolled onto a low plank. The plank rested against three stacked tiles near the path.

The ball struck the plank, and the tiles began to slide. One tile grazed a thin rake that leaned beside a volunteer tomato. Soil clumps knocked tiny insects into short frantic runs. The rake dropped forward and pushed dark soil over hidden roots. That soil blocked the rolling tiles and stopped their steady march. Loose soil slid under the fence toward the rabbit’s original gap.

一隻年輕的兔子從圍籬上鬆動的木板縫鑽了進來。花園的氣味飄到牠抽動的鼻子上，柔軟的土地在腳下。清晨的氣溫仍很涼，露珠閃在每一片葉子上。薄雲掠過太陽，柔和的光線照在莖上。自然以隱藏甲蟲的輕響充滿空氣。兔子朝一片成熟的葉子和一個藍桶前進。牠輕跳一下撞到桶子。金屬摩擦聲響起，桶子向木箱傾倒。箱內一顆小球滾到低木板上。那木板靠在小路旁疊成三層的磚片上。

小球撞到木板，磚片開始滑動。一片磚片擦過靠在自生番茄旁的細耙子。土塊擊落，小昆蟲慌亂奔跑。耙子向前倒下，把黑土推到隱藏的根上。這些土擋住滑動的磚片，停止了它們穩定的前行。鬆土沿著圍籬滑向兔子原來進來的縫隙。
