Water Under the Lid- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Soft mist filled the tall glass room.

Nora worked after school at the city greenhouse. She came as a volunteer and watered small plants. Lately the modern fog machine frequently paused between sprays. It sprayed cool mist, then stopped, then sprayed again. Leaves shimmered during the wet burst and lay flat after.

Nora needed to move a tray of dry seeds today. Mist would soak them if she pushed the tray too soon. She watched two full bursts and two quiet gaps. Water glistened then floors dried in thin patches. During a silent gap she slid the tray forward. She placed a clear lid over the seeds earlier. The next burst landed on the bright lid and stayed outside. Drops gathered under the lid then rolled onto each seed. Moisture remained inside while floors switched from wet to dry. Nora walked toward storage and wiped her damp sleeves clean. Water beads clung to the lid while the machine paused again.
