The Sudden Spill- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Troy placed a bright pot on the workbench. He wanted to measure ribbon for a neat bow. Soft afternoon light filled the small shed. The ribbon spool sat near a small box of nails. Troy pulled the ribbon, and the spool rolled across wood. The spinning spool bumped the nail box, tipping it over. Nails slid like silver rain onto a stack of thin boards. The boards shifted forward and struck a tall bucket of water.

Cold water splashed out and raced toward a pile of waste. Troy grabbed a broom to reduce the flow. He swept fast, yet the water kept spreading. A loose board floated and drifted near a clay pot. The pot held a fresh zinnia with bright orange petals. The drifting board nudged the pot, making it wobble. Troy blocked the board with the broom handle and pushed back. The pot steadied, and water pooled behind the wooden barrier. Thin streams still drift under the barrier toward the open door.
