English 原文
Cold ridges on the ticket-gate bar pressed against Theo’s palm as he pushed through; the overhead board showed three blue-grey digits counting down the last two minutes to the next bus. He lengthened his stride across the tiled platform, the parcel under his arm sliding a little against its smooth wrapping paper. Engine hum vibrated through steel handrails, and a thin hose along the wall quietly irrigated a row of succulent plants set in frost-white troughs. A moment of mediation between two passengers—each angling shopping bags for space—narrowed the walkway just enough that Theo brushed one elbow against a stack of paper cups resting on a kiosk shelf.
The cups toppled. The top one rolled like a pale wheel, struck the flexible hose, and nudged its nozzle free. Water arced in a silver line, splashed the tiles, and trickled toward the yellow safety stripe. The unexpected spray cooled Theo’s ankles; he shifted the parcel upward, keeping it dry, while scanning for the arriving vehicle. Breeze from the entering bus amplified the flow by pushing the loosened hose farther away from the trough. A second hop followed: the hose now swung against a metal bench, and its tip slowed, the stream falling straight into the nearest planter. Soil darkened as the tray absorbed most of the spill, thinning the run across the floor. With the cascade losing force, Theo edged the hose back into place, the rubber gripping the chrome lip again without sound. By the time he stepped into the vehicle, boots squeaking on the damp step, the display above the door had already shifted to the next departure interval.
High above the platform roof, a sparrow slipped through a gap in the glass panels and swooped toward the distant footbridge, its wings cutting a narrow path through the cool air.
