Mist Across the Cape-

English 原文
A pale crescent smear shone against the smooth black cape draped over the swivel chair. How had that slippery mark managed to crawl so unexpectedly high on the fabric? Bram pressed a thumb against the cold material; it slid over the streak and left only a wider, clouded swath. He lifted a nearby pump bottle of cleansing spray, but the nozzle refused to move. The plastic felt gritty where dried gel had blocked the channel, and his first squeeze produced only air. One more push forced a crooked spurt that scattered droplets across his sleeve. The mark remained, and Bram’s elbow brushed the cape awkwardly, a small stumble that sent fine clippings fluttering to the floor.
He turned from the counter and stepped toward the towel rack beside the washing basins. Warm cloths tumbled from the dryer in uneven rolls onto the nearby basket. He smoothed each one along the ridged metal shelf and folded the edges until the stack sat flat. Next, he crossed to the waiting seats, where scattered magazines bent backward like tired fans. Their glossy pages clung together, and separating them required the same steady pressure he had just practiced on the towels. During a brief pause of introspection, Bram ran a thumb over the rubbery spine of a lost comb. He had discovered it beneath the water dispenser while bending to realign a floor mat. With every small task, his hands adjusted, measuring force by feel rather than sight, as time pressed toward the next appointment slot.
As Bram turned back, Nina set a fresh pump bottle beside the cape before hurrying toward the basins. The bottle brushed his elbow, so he caught it before it tipped and noticed the smoother, polished surface. He paused; if it stuck again he could ask Nina later, yet his hand pressed the nozzle once more. The trigger moved with firm but even resistance, releasing a fine mist that softened the stubborn stain. The mark was not shampoo at all; it was only a faint impression left by dried styling foam. One wipe cleared the fabric; the modest achievement and quiet success went unmentioned as the clock advanced. Bram gripped the warm hair-dryer handle to tidy clippings, and a drop of pale liquid slid unnoticed off the cape behind him.
