English 原文
Clara pushed a thick oak book across the side table, tilting its edge until a small mirror leaned safely.
Afternoon light spilled through the curtain slit, struck the mirror, and darted toward the mid-room chair like quick honey. A neat flower arrangement beside the table glowed amber, petals turning translucent while an adult by the door checked the mirror box. Clara knelt in the adjustment zone, watching dust motes swirl through the beam; the moving dots formed a kaleidoscopic tunnel overhead. She slid a slim plastic wedge beneath the book, quietly hoping the extra height would hold the tricky angle for once. When she straightened, the wedge trembled, the book crept forward, and the spot crawled a hand-span below the white card. The enigma of such tiny shifts kept her elbows tense; the target card had been taped earlier, yet it still waited blank.
York stepped over the bright thread, careful not to interact with the beam, and delicately set another mirror on the chair back. As he carefully placed it, the first book slid again, lightly nudged by his shoe against the table leg. Clara caught the mirror before its edge grazed the carpet, then pressed a clay flowerpot against the wandering book to anchor it. The added weight steadied the mirror, yet a passing cloud briefly dimmed the source, and the target spot faded almost to nothing. When sunlight returned, a loose glass marble in the mirror box scattered the beam, softly painting rotating amber discs across the ceiling. Surprised, York lifted the marble away, and the path re-formed; the main spot now glowed on the curled corner of the card. Clara crawled back to the side table; the oak book that had been cool carried a pale, heated rectangle across its grain.
