English 原文
"Look at this green dust," Flora said.
Luke bent closer and ran a fingertip along the narrow streak stretching across the warm, polished shelf beneath cedar bundles. The powder broke apart like dry bread crumbs, gritty against his skin, and a faint cedar note rose when he brushed it. Overhead, the supportive structure of interlocking beams held rows of boxes, while one sample stick smoldered quietly in the ceramic tray. One crimson box carried a small painting of rope and gulls mid-sailing adventure, although its lid remained firmly closed. Luke let his nose nuzzle nearer the rising thread of smoke, and the warmth around the tray warned him to stop there. Flora straightened, rubbing the gritty particles between finger and thumb, unsure whether the trail marked a crack or loose packaging above.
They drifted toward the wrapping counter, fingers still dusty from the shelf and nostrils tingling with cedar. Choosing a bundle was simple, yet reaching exactly thirty grams on the wobbling pointer proved harder. First Flora laid twelve ridged sticks on the cool pan, and the pointer froze below its midpoint. Luke added another ten after careful consideration, but the metal arm still sagged, showing a clear gap against the fixed mark. The shop air soon blended sandalwood with cedar, and their noses registered little difference between them. Flora remembered the green dust, lifted the half-empty bundle overhead, and saw its torn corner leaking powder from a hidden split. She pinched the opening closed, then collected eight more unbroken sticks from the drawer below. As the last stick touched the pan, brass and steel aligned; the pointer hovered at level, neither rising nor falling. The sudden balance reinterpreted the green trail: it was not mystery dust but a simple sign of lost weight. Still holding the damaged bundle, Flora was tilting it toward the lantern’s glow for a closer look.
