English 原文
Paint flecks had already peppered the grass when Boris nudged the tripod leg and the sticks scraped against each other. He aimed to send a fresh violet swing across the sheet before the earlier orange curve turned completely matte. The frame had been braced with spare twine after a lunchtime shower, yet the sticks still felt loose. A thin hose from the garden’s drip irrigation, cool and rubbery, fed watered paint into the plastic bottle above his head. Boris gave the bottle a gentle push, but a crust at the nozzle pinched the opening and slowed the flow. Pressure built; the hose pulsed under his thumb like firm cake icing squeezed through a piping bag. At the next swing the blockage burst, and a sudden heavy stream dragged the bottle lower, stretching the damp string.
At impact, the overloaded pendulum knocked one corner stone into another, sliding both across the sheet toward its loose edge. The sheet bowed upward, trapping warm air that puffed a shiny bubble under the wet layers. The garden hose feeding drip irrigation twitched, its cold rubber skin shivering as loosened paint splashed against it. Nora, still stirring new colours for variety beside the water jug, missed the scrape but heard the bubble burst.
Paint ran like syrup, sliding toward the leafy hibiscus, and carried a small pebble from Boris’s open pandora's box. The pebble lodged against drier paper, slowing the stream enough for pigment to pool rather than flood the grass. Thin threads of colour clung to the pebble’s rough sides, trembling each time the breeze brushed past. Boris pressed a warm stone onto the lifted corner; fabric-rough paper stretched flat again beneath his palm. Above everything, the bottle kept swinging, and a quiet hiss of drying pigment drifted sideways through the sweet air.
