English 原文
Xavi pushed the storeroom door with his shoulder and lifted a tray of jars. Freya held the side while they stepped up one low stair from the dock. They moved between narrow shelves at an easy speed, careful not to brush tins. A small window cast a bright square on the end shelf, and warmth gathered there. A dented tin rested in that light; the metal held a gentle surface heat. A faint fruit smell mixed with the dry scent of cardboard and clean dust. A wooden crate by their knees showed one tiny splinter rising near its handle.
Xavi set the first cool jar in the shade, then reached for a strawberry one. Cold glass pressed his palms, and a thin skin of water began to form. When he touched the sunlit shelf, the base left a clear wet circle. “Hear that?” Freya said as a soft ping rose from a warming lid nearby. “It’s warmer near the window,” she said, shifting her hands for a surer grip. They kept placing jars, but they spaced them wider on the bright board. Their speed slowed, and both used two hands on the slick glass. The tiny splinter brushed Xavi’s sleeve without catching, and he drew his arm back. Heat wavered above the window patch, and the dented tin stayed warm to touch. A single drop ran from one jar’s ring and disappeared into a board seam. Two jars still waited on the cart in the shade beside Freya’s knee. A wet circle marked the shelf, and Xavi’s cuff cooled against his wrist.
