The cup is cold.
The grandfather pours a dot on the towel.
He sets the towel near the fold.
Its edge counters a small curl.
The dot slides under the rim.
Warmth fades the wet mark.
"The dot goes quick," he says.
Back at the fold, the shine is smaller.
The soft sound is gone.
At the rim, bare ceramic shows.
Phoebe tilts her head again.
