Night at the Hilltop Dome-

English 원문
Mira reached the final stone step while the last glow of sunset still brushed the western ridge. The hillside observatory rose ahead, its silver dome glinting like a small, patient moon. She unlatched the tall side door and slipped inside, cradling a compact camera and a printed star chart. Her simple goal was clear in the rhythm of her movements: fit the camera to the main telescope, track the rumored comet, and capture its long tail before midnight. Electric fans hummed, red safety lamps dotted the floor, and a low buzz of visitors folded into the circular room.
The dome’s motor stirred; metal petals slid apart, revealing a cut of indigo sky. A guide rope kept the crowd behind a rail, yet the space filled quickly. Mira clipped her camera to the eyepiece, breathed onto the glass, and wiped a faint smear. When she tried to tighten the final screw, the ring slipped from her fingers. It bounced once, rolled beneath the mounting plate, and vanished. Knees met the cold floor as she reached into the gap. Her fingertips brushed metal, but the ring skittered deeper. Behind her, a murmur rose: thin clouds drifted across the opening, softening the brilliance of one bright planetary disc. The first celestial body on her chart was already fading.
A sudden click hushed the room. Every lamp blinked off; the motor stuttered into silence. The hillside, the dome, and even the town below shared the same blackout. For a moment only the wind shifted. Then, without ground light, the sky thickened with stars. Gasps scattered through the darkness like small percussion notes. Mira straightened, steadying herself on the railing. She twisted a manual wheel; gears groaned, and the telescope tilted away from the clouded slice toward a clear swath overhead. Cameras, phones, and binoculars aligned in many hands, all adjusting at different paces, creating a soft chorus of clicks and whirs.
The cloud band thinned, sailed east, and left a sharp, glowing streak across the center of sight. The comet widened as it climbed; dust and ice sprayed a faint fan that stretched across half the aperture. Mira pressed the shutter again and again, each exposure gathering more detail. Around her, faces turned upward, lit only by reflected starlight, and the hillside seemed to breathe as one vast instrument. Above the silent dome, the comet hung near the zenith.
