English 원문
Clara pushed open the iron gate and stepped onto the library’s rooftop garden, camera bag swinging at her side. A broad panorama of the riverside district unfolded; copper roofs glimmered like coins, commuter boats traced pale wakes, and distant hills formed a hazy border. Benches lined the parapet, already dotted with tourists who murmured over guidebooks. She aimed for an empty corner where climbing jasmine curled around a stone column. Her simple goal felt clear: frame the late-summer landscape before evening haze softened the contours. Leaves rustled under a restless breeze, and the fountain in the center tapped out a rhythmic splash, lending the space an unhurried tempo.
She unfolded the slender tripod, extended its legs, and balanced the camera, yet the first shot refused to cooperate. A sudden gust tugged at the strap; the lens tilted, and the composition skewed. Before she could steady it, a sleek feline emerged from behind a planter, tail aloft, brushing against her ankle. The unexpected contact nudged her backward; one tripod foot slipped on a wet tile, forcing her to catch the rig with both hands. A ripple of laughter drifted through nearby visitors as she crouched, adjusting the clamp and wiping moisture from the plate. The breeze eased, but the parade of small disruptions already altered her original timing.
As she recomposed, a hiss of compressed air rose from the courtyard below, followed by cheers. She peered over the balustrade: workers inflated an enormous fabric python for a children’s science event, its patterned body gleaming emerald and gold. The balloon climbed above the roofline, blocking half her view of the river. Almost instantly, another spectacle joined it—a child’s kite shaped like a charcoal vulture, wings beating against the sky as the child zigzagged along the terrace. The two airborne creatures circled within the same thermal, one sluggish and bulbous, the other angular and lively, weaving a shifting curtain across the scene Clara had meant to capture.
A grin tugged at her mouth; the interruption offered a new angle rather than a loss. She lowered the tripod, knelt, and framed the shot differently. The feline stretched across the sun-warmed stone in the foreground, eyes half-closed. Beyond it, the python balloon drifted just high enough to hover without dominance, while the vulture kite darted above like punctuation. Between those elements, rooftops, water, and hills still glistened, creating an unforeseen mosaic. She pressed the shutter repeatedly, each click echoing against the tiles. The wind slackened, the balloon rope tightened, and the kite settled into a lazy spiral. Sunlight rested across the roof tiles.
